Specs for Final Report Publishing

As update on requirements for final report printing, the following are specs particular to Create Space, which is where will we publish:

Important: When your PDF is ready, please ensure the Cover Page is 40MB or less, and your entire Interior Pages are 400MB or less. These are the maximum files sizes.

When you upload these files on Wednesday by 11.59p to SendSpace, please send both PDFs to us as two separate files: 1) Cover Page PDF and, 2) Interior Page File PDF – and label each PDF file as either TeamName_CoverPage_FinalStudioReport.pdf, and TeamName_InteriorPage_FinalStudioReport.pdf.

Cover Page PDF

For the Cover Page, the size of your spine will be dependent on your final number of Interior Pages.

For example, if your report is the maximum number of pages (400), then the size of your spine for a full color, white paper printing will be 400 x 0.002347 = 0.9388″.

Your Cover Page file will have a 0.125″ bleed.

If you need more specification details on how to design a Cover Page PDF, please look here.

Interior Page PDF:

For Interior Pages (400MB for entire Interior PDF), you will have a 0.125″ bleed on all sides and a 0.25” interior trim line.

Meaning: if you want your images to bleed to the edges of your book, ensure that they extend at least 0.125″ beyond the final trim size from the top, bottom and outer edges and submit your PDF 0.25″ higher and 0.125″ wider than your selected trim size to accommodate the full bleed area.

Keep in mind all live elements must be at least 0.25″ away from the trim lines, so if your file is formatted to be full bleed all live elements should be 0.375″ away from the edge of the page.

If you your are working in InDesign to create your PDFs, this is fine. If you need more specification details on designing your Interior Page PDF, please look here.

Also, all fonts and images should be embedded, and both CMYK and RGB will fine – but I would suggest CMYK throughout both Cover and Interior.
